Scott graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Photojournalism in 1987. He has worked at newspapers and other publications in the Seattle area both as a full-time staff member and as a freelancer. He currently is a regular freelancer for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Scott now primarily does editorial and documentary work and also corporate photography, Seattle WA Wedding Photography along with wedding photojournalism. His work has been published in a wide variety of publications from National Geographic, Time, Life, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, New York Times Sunday Magazine among others.

Scott's photojournalism and Seattle Wedding Photography work has been recognized by numerous organizations for its excellence including the Missouri Press Association, National Press Photographer Association, Professional Photographers of Washington, Associated Press, and Professional Photographers of America. Scott recently was awarded the prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Award for 2001 and will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Fuji Profiles. He was also the subject of a recent feature article in the northwest wedding publication, "The Bridal Connection".
